Clarence Fisher a middle school teacher in Snow Lake, Manitoba Canada setup personal blogs for his students to use. He combined his seventh and eight grade classes on topics to let them communicate with each other. He let them talk about what ever they want from school assignments to plans for the weekend. He always reads them before posting the blogs. He along with other teachers in his school believes that blogging will help kids learn about computers and improve their writing skills. His students are also blog to students all over the world, which helps them know what is going on outside their community.

Melanie and English teacher in Italy setup a blog for her students to let them communicate with other students across the world. She works at a technical high school and vocational school with 16-18 year olds that love computers and getting to know others. Bridging the Gap is what she called the blog because she wanted students to better understand the world and how others think about particular subjects. Students setup discussions about things that interest them and allow others to join and give their opinion.

The Goochland County Public Schools started to use blogging as a source of communication in 205. Teachers and parents wanted a way to communicate other than sending papers home with students everyday. They believe blogging will help students achieve positive higher order thinking skills. They also think the shy and quiet students will find their voice instead of speaking in front of everyone. Students can only use blogs when the teachers want them to for their classroom work and they can only be used at school. Surveys were done in November 2005 and 93% of parents want teachers to keep blogging. And 41% of teachers update their blogs monthly and 30% update weekly.

access
The Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, and Students Statewide is a distance learning program that is beneficial to teachers and students. As a future Alabama teacher I can see how ACCESS can help in teaching kids and help kids with learning. My goal is to get my bachelors degree in Elementary Education, then go on to get my masters in History. If this program is availably when I start teaching high school I would love to use it because it would help in so many aspects. One of the things that I am most interested in is the distance learning. With the web-based the students get to use multimedia content approved by the state and use website portals. The IVC or videoconferencing is a great way for another teacher or me to inter into another classroom and help teacher a particular subject.
They also provide web-based courses that are state approved, which is another way to teach students, since they don’t all learn the same way. All the courses are advanced or AP courses to help students get ready for college, which is my goal. Even though not all of them will go to college I will try everything I can so that they can better themselves and society. This program will also provide students with computers which in today society is a necessity. So all and all if I can use ACCESS as a teacher I will because it will benefit my students and me.

The Alabama Learning Exchange is an online resource that is availably to teachers and students in the state of Alabama. Alex, as it is otherwise known is possibly the best website that the state has come up with to help teachers. It has everything one needs to help with preparing and learning new skills. It is also very easy to navigate. Students also benefit from the site since it has students web links and a distance learning lab that let them connect with other students in the state. Teacher can search for lesson plans, find web links, and have a personal workspace. Alex is one website that everyone involved in school can use to better their knowledge in their field of study.
Alex has your typical courses of study like english, math, science, and social studies. But they also have art, technology, career, health, languages, and physical. This helps you with ideas in your course of study. It also has educational web links for teachers, administers, and students. This lets you type in what you are looking for and takes you to websites that correspond with your requests. The distance learning lab is for students that want to get in touch with other students in the state. This lets them connect with others and also get help with things they need for school. One thing that the teachers really like is the free lesson plans. You can either get a lesson plan on what you need or create one to share with other teachers throughout the state. And possibly the greatest part on Alex is the professional learning lab it let teachers learn new learning tools, get news, and enhance their professional growth that will benefit them and their students.
To me the Alabama Learning Exchange is a great website that a teacher can use to get new ideas, create lesson plans, and further their professional growth. The course of study is going to be a great help when I start since I am going to be an elementary teacher. The course of studies has every subject that I will be teaching being an elementary teacher you have to know how to teach every subject. Even though I will be taking classes in every subject I know there will be things that I will not learn in college, and this part of the website will help with that. Also the professional learning part will be a great help because I know I will always be looking for new ways to teach my students and this will help to enhance my growth.
As a teacher lesson plans are a huge concern since everything you do has to be documented, and with this website they let you use or create lesson plans. Underneath the lesson plans tab you can create a lesson plan, so when you have a great idea on how to teach a subject you can share it with other teachers in the state. Also you can find lesson plans in every grade and subject. I know that this will be a part of the website that I will use when I need help in an area and hopefully one day I will come up with great lesson plans to share with other teachers. As a future teacher in the state of Alabama, Alex will be a website that I will visit when I need assistance.

First Post
On March 7, 2008 my boyfriend asked me to marry him and gave me the most amazing engagement ring ever created. Here's how it happened. He picked me up at my house at 6:00 and told me he had a surprise for me. He took me out to the pier in Daphne and the weather was bad that he didn't get to follow every detail that he had in mind but it was just fine. We sat on a bench and he brought his bible and started to read a passage about love and when he did that I knew what was coming and started to cry. After he finished he got down on one knee and told me that he loved me more than anything and that I was the most amazing person. Then he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. By this time we were both crying. Then we went to dinner with my sister's because we made plans with them and when we got there both of our families were there waiting on us. I was so surprise to see all of them, they all knew what was going on and everyone was so happy for us. We all had a great night. Of course I said YES!!!
